‘Running Man’ swept the ’2011 SBS Entertainment Awards’ and now the good news continues with a 100,000,000KRW incentive. (100,000,000KRW = about $86,000 at press time.)
An SBS insider said to ENews on January 6th, “Recently ‘Running Man’ received a 100,000,000KRW incentive. The incentive was for breathing life into Sundays and also for breaking through 20% ratings.”
The SBS Variety Department has been aware of the fact that variety programs have been lagging since ‘Family Outing’ ended and they have set a policy of incentives with 20% ratings as the goal trying to encourage the PD’s.
‘Running Man’ has been gathering steam and for the January 1st episode, it recorded 21.7% in the Seoul Metropolitan area and 19.2% nationally. Since SBS uses the Seoul Metropolitan area data to gauge, ‘Running Man’ has become the first program to receive the incentive.
Perhaps such results were already foretold at the ’2011 SBS Entertainment Daesang’. The cast of ‘Running Man’ has swept the awards in recognition of their talents. At the awards, Yoo Jae Suk has received the Daesang, HaHa ‘Best Entertainer Award’, Lee Kwang Soo ‘Newcomer Award’, Kim Jong Kook and Song Ji Hyo the ‘Excellence Award’. The program itself was recognized with the ‘Best Program Award’.
On the January 8th episode of ‘Running Man’, the viewers will be able to meet actors Ji Jin Hee, Kim Sung Soo, Joo Sang Wook, and Lee Chun Hee who rarely appear on variety programs.
